To run WordPress we recommend your host supports:
- PHP version 7.4 or greater.
- MySQL version 5.7 or greater OR MariaDB version 10.3 or greater.
- HTTPS support
We suggest using Apache or Nginx as the best server options for hosting WordPress, although any server that can support PHP and MySQL will suffice.
Please note that if you are using older PHP or MySQL versions, WordPress can still function with PHP 5.6.20+ and MySQL 5.0+, but using these outdated versions may pose security risks to your website since they have reached their official End of Life.
Server Settings Recommended
Especially to allow a smooth import of content we recommend having these settings in your php.ini. The location of the php.ini file in WordPress varies depending on the server environment and system in use. Consequently, there are multiple methods for accessing and editing the php.ini file. Therefore, the optimal solution is to contact your server provider to determine the specific location of the file.
